UH-60Black HawkWiki: The UH-60 Black Hawk is a four-bladed, twin-engine, medium-lift utility helicopter manufactured by Sikorsky Aircraft. The UH-60A entered service with the Army in '79, to replace the UH-1 Iroquois as the Army's tactical transport helicopter. The IAF received its first Blackhawks in August '94, 10 US Army surplus UH-60As. It saw its first combat use in April '96, during operation ''Grapes of Wrath'' against the Hizbullah in southern Lebanon, and has since been in routine use in IDF operations in Lebanon and in fighting in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. In March 2000, 3 Blackhawks were used to ferry Pope John Paul II on his visit to Israel, with one carrying the Pope, another his medical team and a third standing on constant standby.Go To Gallery
